Park City Run-A-Muk Park

When I first moved to Utah I made a day trip to Park City with my mom to explore Olympic Park. All the information for Olympic Park is here. Just in front of the museums I saw this large area with lots of pups playing off leash. I made a little mental note to come back with Winter and check it out. In December my friend Sasha was visiting Park City with her family and pup, Nog. This was the perfect opportunity to discover what Run-A-Muk Park was all about.

Wooded area at Run-A-Muk

I am not 100% sure what I was expecting here. But the trails and space at Run-A-Muk Park exceeded any ideas I had. The entire area was fenced in, and has over 4 miles of really easy hiking trails. Kid friendly, and of course very dog friendly. For more adventurous folks, there are additional trails across the street that are dog friendly (on-leash) and more difficult + less crowded. Winter and Nog had a blast playing in the fresh snow with several other dogs at the park. While it is a 40 minute drive from Salt Lake City, it is a great spot to spend the morning walking around and drinking your coffee.

My only complaint was the small parking area. I did learn, after the fact, there is additional parking across the street. Access to Run-A-Muk is available from the additional parking via a tunnel under the road. In the winter-time humans need to make sure to wear shoes with good grip or microspikes. For our 4-legged furry friends, I highly recommend Mushers Secret Wax for their paws. You can snag Mushers Secret on Amazon, or pretty much any pet supply website.

Check out more of our favorite Dog Friendly places on the Dog Days page, here. We will periodically be adding more. Usually the Dog Days posts are dog parks or dog friendly restaurants. You’ll find stuff from Houston and in Utah on the page. Head over to the All Things Winter page for all the outdoors activities Winter loves to do as well!
