Hidden Haven Falls

Another Southern Utah destination that is a must see: Hidden Haven Falls. It is a great stop between the Parowan Gap Petroglyphs and Cedar Breaks National Monument. This short hike was listed as a recommended stop in my backroads and byways book (available on Amazon), which I got as a gift shortly before moving to Utah. Plus, I do love chasing a good waterfall! And during February in Utah waterfalls area almost always frozen.

Hidden Haven Falls Trailhead

The Hidden Haven Falls trail map in All Trails is accurate and was up-to-date when I visited. It is approximately 1.4 miles out and back with only 275 feet of elevation gain. The trail is located within a Wildlife Management Area. It is well manicured and clearly marked with red trail markers on the trees. A large parking lot for the trailhead is located on the north the side 143. No restrooms are available at the trailhead. This area also has a primitive campground about half a mile in, a great spot to check out during the summer camping months.

Overall the hike to hidden haven falls is flat and really easy. If you plan to make this short hike during February, or any winter month, microspikes are HIGHLY recommended. We would not have been able to complete the hike without them. The last quarter mile of the hike is along the creek-bed to the base of the waterfall. It was gorgeous, especially in the winter! It is also extremely icey in the Winter.

In total the hike took about 45 minutes to complete, including probably 15 minutes at the end for photos and one or two short detours along the way. For this Texas native, it is always great to hike in the mountains and canyons of Utah! Another hike in Utah off the list.

Great article…didn’t think it took us that long… BUT ole Grandpaw was along for the hike too.. Winter was awesome too. She really crushed the river bed. It was an easy hike but getting close to the fall was a bit more like rock climbing on ice.
