I made a mental note to come back with Winter and check it out. The perfect opportunity to discover what Run-A-Muk Park was all about finally came.
We managed to get two quick hikes in while I visited. The longer one an approximately 5 mile out and back section of the Florida National Scenic Trail, and the second at Camp Helen State Park.
The easy start is deceiving as the trail quickly turns into an up-mountain grind. For this Texas gal who is used to hiking on flat trails in low elevation, I appreciated the leg burner.

f you are looking for some easy, family friendly hiking around Houston, Jesse H Jones Nature Center is your place!
Another Coronavirus hike in the books at Palmetto State Park, this small 270 acres state park got its name from the unique dwarf palmetto plants found there.
This trip we hiked about 2 miles at the Hamilton Greenbelt, and I came completely unprepared in jeans and sandals.
