I am finally here! After 6 weeks spent in Oregon and a 3 day roadtrip through Texas, New Mexico, and Colorado, I finally arrived in Utah.
Battle Creek Falls
The Battle Creek Falls trail is definitely a must hike. Winter was a trooper for this 4.1 mile hike with 1,800 feet elevation gain.
Whidbey Island Washington
I took a 3 day trip to Whidbey Island in Washington to stay with on of my good girl friends. We hiked, crabbed, and relaxed at her family beach house. The best part, Winter was reunited with her best dog friend, naughty Nog.
Cannon Beach Oregon
The beach is one of Winters’ favorite places, and this one did not disappoint. Cannon Beach is an adorable seaside town that is known for the main attraction at Ecola State Park, Haystack Rock.
The Columbia River Gorge
My trail of choice was Dog Mountain, located on the Washington side of the Columbia River Gorge about an hour from Portland. This was Winter first peek ever, so the name of the hike was very fitting.
Camping at Guadalupe River State Park
There are only a handful of state parks I would consider camping at during the summer, Guadalupe River State Park is one of them
Hiking Lake Houston Wilderness Park – Peach Creek Loops
One of the easiest places to go hiking when you live in Downtown Houston is Lake Houston Wilderness Park. I have been here countless times and even have several other blogs from various hiking trails within the park: Ameri-Trail and Forest Trail. On my most recent visit my friend and I took the dogs and …

Hiking Palmetto State Park
Another Coronavirus hike in the books at Palmetto State Park, this small 270 acres state park got its name from the unique dwarf palmetto plants found there.
Hiking Hamilton Greenbelt at Hurst Creek
This trip we hiked about 2 miles at the Hamilton Greenbelt, and I came completely unprepared in jeans and sandals.
Toltec Mounds Archaeological State Park – Arkansas
That is when I saw the sign for Toltec Mounds Archaeological State Park. A 10 minute detour off the interstate south of Little Rock Arkansas, this stop was much more than I had anticipated. The state park is also a National Historic Landmark.
Hiking Lockhart State Park
This lead us to Lockhart State Park. It is a short 25 minutes from my childhood home, but we had never been there. Winter was definitely along for the ride as well.
Hiking Four Notch Loop – LSHT
With the entire world at a stand still due to Coronavirus, this is the perfect opportunity to explore new hikes around the Houston area. What else is there to do? So, on April 18th that is exactly what I did. Loading up the car with three happy dogs ready for an adventure, my friend and …
Camping at Huntsville State Park
Just over an hour north of downtown Houston, Huntsville State Park is nestled in the Sam Houston National Forest. Typically a park that is fully booked months in advance, I got lucky and snagged a campsite online Thursday night for the entire weekend.
O’ahu Hawaii
A split second decision in January after seeing a flight sale and a month later I was on my way to Hawaii.
