Houston is quickly becoming one of the most dog friendly cities in America. Anyone with a dog knows their joy when you take them with you anywhere. These “Dog Days” posts are my way of sharing Winters’ favorite places around Houston. Quite frankly, they are some of my favorites too, and all very dog friendly. From breweries and bars to dog parks, each post will highlight a place we love! This week is all about Bill Archer Dog Park!
Bill Archer Dog Park
Quickly becoming one of my most frequently visited dog parks in Houston, this place is amazing and only 15 minutes from downtown on the weekends! Bill Archer Dog Park offers an awesome bone shaped pond in both the large and small dog areas as well as some really fun agility obstacles. There are gravel walking/running trail for owners in both areas and the park offers plenty of open green fields for playing fetch and shaded areas for those hot summer days. After a rain storm be prepared to let dogs be dogs because the mud puddles can get intense! Luckily there are plenty of washing stations at the park as you leave so you can take a clean, tired dog home.
Before you go
A word about getting to the park: driving north on State Highway 6 it is very easy to miss the un-marked turn to the parking lot for this amazing park. Be sure to pay attention!

OMG, just love the muddy dog pic. Great park!
Awe thanks!
