Houston is quickly becoming one of the most dog friendly cities in America. Anyone with a dog knows their joy when you take them with you anywhere. These “Dog Days” posts are my way of sharing Winters’ favorite places around Houston. Quite frankly, they are some of my favorites too, and all very dog friendly. From breweries and bars to dog parks, each post will highlight a place we love!
Millie Bush Dog Park
Too far for a week day drive, but perfect for the weekend! Millie Bush Dog Park is located in George Bush Park, near Katy. I love this park because it is HUGE! There are two very large ponds for dogs to swim in, plenty of grassy areas to play fetch, large trees to rest under, and plenty of benches for us humans also. Have no fear, they have a small dog area as well with its own pond, grass, trees, and more! Winter and I usually make the trip out to Millie Bush Dog Park once a month, and bring some of her friends along with us.
We typically stay for at least an hour and half to make the 25 minute drive from downtown Houston worth it. I always bring the frisbee and a ball for Winter to play with. A huge plus are the conveniently located wash stations just outside the park. These are a great spot for the always necessary and sometimes dreaded bath after a morning at the dog park rolling around in the mud. The biggest plus? The tired dog for the remainder of the day!
